Rapid Action Battalion have recovered an eight-year-old boy's dead body from his cousin's house after five days into abduction.

The boy Mostafa Kamal, resident of Shofipur Purbopara under Gazipur's Kaliakair upazila, went missing on January 14. He was a class two student of Mount Average School and College.

“On Wednesday, Mostafa did not return home from school. After searching every possible locations, I filed a general diary with Kaliakair police station. Later the abductors called me over mobile phone and demanded Tk5 lakh as ransom. I made a complaint with RAB,” said Mostafa's father Joynal Abedin who is a worker of a local composite mill.

Yesterday around 1am, RAB officials recovered Mostafa's dead body from his cousin Rubel Hossain's room inside a house located in Purbopara area. The house is owned by a man named Zakir.

RAB arrested Rubel Hossain, son of Joynal's brother Ismail Hossain, and his three associates – Monsur Ali Matobbor, Jahangir Alam and Baby – in this connection.

RAB 1 Left Commander Shoaib Hossain said: “On January 15, Joynal came to our office to lodge a complaint along with his nephew Rubel. We found Rubel's attitude suspicious.”

On Monday, both Joynal and Rubel were summoned at the RAB office when Rubel confessed of abducting Mostafa, he said.

Following Rubel's statement, Mostafa's body was found above the ceiling of the room where Rubel used to live on rent. The body was hidden inside a sack.

The dead body will be handed over to his father after the case was lodged, said the RAB official.
