Replying to another starred question from lawmaker Amina Begum, Amu said some two lakh sugarcane cultivators under the 15 mills have been receiving text messages in their mobile phones about their “Purji” or official purchase offer every harvest season since the 2010-11 fiscal year.

Responding to yet another starred question from Comilla lawmaker Shubid Ali Bhuiyan, the industries minister said construction of Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Savar Tannery Estate would be completed by June 30 this year.

The construction work on 144 industrial units out of allocated 155 has started with a view to relocating Hazaribagh tanneries to Savar Tannery Estate. Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has already approved layout plants of 152 industrial units in Savar Tannery Estate.
