Anne Richard, assistant secretary of state for population, refugees and migration in the US, arrived in the capital yesterday on a four-day visit, according to an official release.
During her visit to Bangladesh, Richard will hold meetings with high-level government officials, including the ministers of foreign affairs, home affairs and disaster management and relief.
She will also meet with officials from different NGOs and INGOs, as well as the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and the International Organisation for Migration, the press note said.
In addition, Richard is set to join a conference of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies today, and plans to visit Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar.
Assistant Secretary Richard was sworn in as assistant secretary of state for population, refugeesand migration in 2012.
She has a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and an MA in Public Policy Studies from the University of Chicago.
