‘Reward for assisting to arrest anarchists’

The government will reward people who will assist members of law enforcement agencies in nabbing the criminals who are hurling petrol bombs and creating anarchy in the name of movement, State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan has said.

The junior minister made the announcement while exchanging views with the newly elected leaders of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) at his office in the capital on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Asaduzzaman, however, did not specify the bounty.

On BNP's indefinite blockade programme, he said their movement did not get people's support and such movement would not last long.

Replying to another question on killing in crossfire, the minister categorically said: "None was killed in crossfire. Terrorists and criminals are being killed during gunfight with the law enforcement agencies."

Regarding emergence of different international-based militant organisations in the country, the state minister said people of Bangladesh are very pious but they are not fanatics at all.

He sought cooperation of reporters to unearth criminal activities through their objective reporting.

CRAB president Isaraf Hossain Isa, general secretary Kamruzzaman Khan, vice-president M Jahangir Alam, treasurer Md Sahidul Islam Rana, joint-secretary Amir Mohammad Jewel, publicity and publication secretary Masum Mizan and training secretary MM Badsha, among others, were present on the occasion.
