Sports arena pay last respect to Jumman

The sports arena paid rich tribute to hockey legend Jumman Lusai, who passed away on Sunday, and remembered his glorious playing career yesterday.

Jumman’s body was taken to his beloved Abahani club premises in the morning where the club officials paid their last respect to the hockey star. Club officials Harunur Rashid, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, Afzalur Rahman Sinha former BCB director DSA Tutul, former hockey players Mahbub Harun and Mahbub Ehsan Rana, football players Pranotosh, Nazrul and many others placed floral wreaths beside his coffin.

Later Jumman’s body was taken to the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium where state minister for youth and sports Biren Sikder and hundreds of sports related people paid their last respect. Biren Sikder left the cabinet meeting presided over by the Prime Minister to show respect to the departed soul. Deputy minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy, hockey federation general secretary Khwaja Rahmatullah, former football star Hasanuzzman Khan Bablu, Sheikh Mohammad Aslam were also present among others. His body was later taken to Sylhet for his funeral.
