Former state minister for agriculture Syed Mohammad Qaiser has challenged the death sentence handed down to him by International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) 2.
Joynul Abedin Tuhin, counsel for Qaiser, filed the appeal with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday.
On December 23, 2014, the ICT 2 sentenced Qaiser to death as 14 charges out of the total 16 framed against him were proved beyond any reasonable doubt.
Qaiser raised an armed militia gang in his name during the War of Liberation, and carried out monstrous crimes against humanity in and around Habiganj siding with the Pakistani occupation force.
