The government has backtracked from its previous decision to withdraw all notes and coins worth Tk1 and Tk2.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith disclosed the decision while addressing a programme at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Monday morning.
The minister said: "Tk1, Tk2 will remain in the market."
Asked about the reason for changing the decision, he said: "The notes, which are already in the market cannot be withdrawn forcibly. When people will find this unnecessary, its use will be decreased naturally."
Earlier on Sunday, Muhith said: “Once these notes and coins reach the banks, they will never be circulated again.”
