Nancy launches third solo album

Update : 18 Jan 2015, 06:00 PM

Nancy will launch her third solo album, “Dushtu Chhele,” in the capital today.

The album features eight songs, seven of the artiste’s originals and a Nazrul Geeti. “We recorded as many as fifteen songs and eight have been chosen for the album,” she said.

She said: “It took around a year to record the songs. There were many challenges to bringing the album to market, but in the end it all came together.

“A number of new-comers have showcased their talent on this album, setting it apart from my other albums. I was accompanied by Niamul Hasan Putu on keyboard, Aku Noman Shojib on bass guitar, Shakilur Rahman Prince on lead guitar and Ahmed Sayeed on the drums. The album was mixed and mastered by Pavel Arin from the band Chirkutt.

“Every artist experiments with different styles and I have tried some new things with my singing. I hope the audience appreciates my efforts,” she said.

“I am aware of the fact that the audio industry is disappearing. But as an artist and a listener I feel that there is a raw essence in handling a physical disc. It is fact that retail CD stores are closing down. But stores put a range of artists’ works on display, which is important for artists and for listeners,” Nancy said.

“‘Dushtu Chhele’ is the album’s title track,” Nancy told the Dhaka Tribune.

This is the first time Nancy will sing a Nazrul Geeti titled “Tomar Akashe.” Nancy became an enlisted artist with Bangladesh Betar in 2002 as a Nazrul Geeti singer.

The album’s other tracks are “Swapno Dana,” “Bhul Manush,” “Nirghum Raat,” “Megher Ullash,” “Monmali” and “Nekorer Gorjon.”
