Thousands of Muslim devotees from around the world have thronged the Bishwa Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after the Hajj, on Sunday.
The second phase of Biswa Ijtema will come to an end with Akheri Munajat. Senior scholar of Tablighi Jamaat Indian Moulana Saa’d will conduct the final prayer.
Devotees started thronging the Ijtema grounds since morning. The gathering was also seen spreading to adjacent roads and areas around the venue.
The government and private offices, mills and factories, educational institutions in Tongi and Gazipur have been declared closed to facilitate the Ijtema and devotees.
Just like the first phase, Gazipur Bhogra By-pass to Dhaka Mymensingh main road, Ashulia-Baipail to Kamarpara, and Station road to Mirer Bazar remained closed for any vehicular movement due to the Akheri Munajat.
