A police constable has been killed when a covered van collided head-on with a police van during escorting a JBM member on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Mirsarai uapzila in Chittagong.
Four other policemen were also injured in the accident. However, their identities could not be ascertained immediately.
The deceased is Md Ali, 30, a constable of Mirsarai police.
Officer-in-Charge Imtiaz Bhuiyan of Mirsarai police station said the accident took place around 6pm on Saturday when the police team was escorting a JMB member from Dhaka.
“Ali was declared dead by on-duty doctors at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH)," said Nayek Jahangir Alam of CMCH police outpost.
