Two workers have died after being trapped inside a septic tank while working at a house in Nagarkunda neighborhood in Baliyapur area of Savar.
However, the identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
Fire service men recovered the bodies of the workers after three hours of efforts.
Mohammad Ali, owner of the house where the accident took place said he hired the workers to clean the septic tank at his house on Saturday morning.
He said one of the workers got down into the tank around 2pm.
Receiving no response from him in the next one hour, the other worker also got into the tank to rescue him.
Being informed that two workers got trapped inside the tank, an unit of fire service at Savar arrived the spot around 3pm.
As the fire fighters failed to recover their bodies in an effort of one hour and a half, the divers were informed.
Later, the divers pulled out the bodies of the workers around 6pm.
Police sent the bodies to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Senior Station Officer Anwar Hossain of Savar Fire Service said the trapped workers might have died of being suffocated in toxic gases.
Officer-in-Charge Abdul Motaleb of Savar police said they were trying to identify the deceased.
