Police have arrested a mother for her alleged involvement in killing her 9-year-old stepdaughter near Kalaghata area of Bandarban on Friday.
The deceased is Sanjida Khanom,9, a class-III student of Bandarban Cantonment School and College.
Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Bandarban Sadar police station Ameer Hossain said police recovered Sanjida's body from her house at Kalaghata area of the town.
He said: "We arrested stepmother Sabeka Akhter, 24, for her alleged involvement behind the killing."
Police primarily suspected that the girl might be strangled to death in a family feud, he added.
Police sent the body to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC said.
