Update : 15 Jan 2015, 02:21 PM

Four crude bombs have been recovered from Science Library of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday, during the 12 hour country shut-down called by BNP.

The bombs were recovered in an abandoned state from a toilet of the library on the first floor of the building around 3:30pm, Khalid Saifullah, a fourth year student of Information Science and Library Management informed the Dhaka Tribune.

He was on the spot then.

Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh police station Shirajul Islam said: “A student first noticed the bombs and placed it under the authorities concern.”

Being informed, DU acting proctor Amzad Ali and Librarian of Dhaka University Library Professor Dr SM Zabed Ahmed along with policemen recovered the bombs from the spot, he added.

None has been arrested in this regard till filling the report at 8pm.

When contacted the university proctor alleged that hartal supporters might have kept these bombs to create anarchy inside the campus premises.

“Strict action would be taken against the responsible,” he added.
