Moghbazar arson victim dies
A private car driver, who received burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack, has succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Abu Kalam, 24, died at the burn unit of the hospital around 12:30pm on Thursday.
Graft cases: Khaleda shows no-confidence in judges
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has declared no-confidence in the judges of Zia charitable graft cases after the court denied petition that was filed seeking adjournment of taking deposition.
The lawyers of Khaleda filed time petition as she could not appear before the court due to security issues during the dawn-to-dusk nationwide hartal on Thursday.
Bus helper burnt to death in Gazipur
A bus helper has been burnt to death while the bus was torched by miscreants on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Mohishbathan Bottola area under Kaliakoir upazila early Thursday.
The deceased is Tofazzal Hossain, 20, son of Wahed Ali hailing from Narayantala village in Sunamganj district.
US Assistant Secretary to visit Bangladesh
US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C Richard will make a four-day visit to Bangladesh from January 20, according to US Department of State.
During staying in Bangladesh till January 23, Richard will meet with government officials and international and non-governmental organisations in Dhaka.
Countrywide hartal underway
The dawn-to-dusk nationwide hartal called by BNP protesting the heinous attack on Reaz Rahman, former foreign minister and the adviser of Khaleda Zia, is underway peacefully on Thursday.
The hartal began around 6am and would end at 6pm on Thursday.
Arson injures 2 in Natore
Two people have received burn injuries in arson on a cement-laden truck at Ahmadpur under Boraigram upazila in Natore.
The injured are truck driver Ajoy Kumar Dutta, 32, of Narayanganj and helper Rasel Ahmed, from Rajshahi.
