US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C Richard will make a four-day visit to Bangladesh from January 20, according to US Department of State.
During staying in Bangladesh till January 23, Richard will meet with government officials and international and non-governmental organisations in Dhaka.
She will also travel to Cox’s Bazar to meet with district and local officials, undocumented Rohingya and registered refugees, and organisations providing humanitarian assistance in the area.
Before coming to Bangladesh, Richard will visit Myanmar.
In Myanmar, Assistant Secretary Richard will visit Rakhine State from January 16-19 to meet with state and local government officials, representatives of the Rohingya and Rakhine communities, and international and non-governmental organizations to discuss the political and humanitarian situation in Rakhine State, following her participation in the second US-Burma Human Rights Dialogue in Naypyitaw January 14-15.
