A bus helper has been burnt to death while the bus was torched by miscreants on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Mohishbathan Bottola area under Kaliakoir upazila early Thursday.
The deceased is Tofazzal Hossain, 20, son of Wahed Ali hailing from Narayantala village in Sunamganj district.
Kaliakoir police station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said: “Miscreants set fire to the bus while Tofazzal was asleep inside the bus around 3:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.”
Being informed, a fire-fighting unit with the help of locals doused the blaze and recovered the charred body of Toffazel.
Later, the body was sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC.
