Police have detained two people in possession of 65 gold bars in Cinema Palace area in Chittagong.
The detainees are Dulal Kormokar and Poritosh Dey.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali Circle) Shah Mohammad Abdur Rauf said: “On information, police conducted a drive in the area at 1:30am on Wednesday. We searched their private car and detained them with the gold bars weighing 7.5kg.”
“Each of the gold bars are worth Tk5 lakh,” he said.
He said: “The detainees claimed to be taking the gold bars to a jeweller named Narayan Kormokar.”
However, they could not provide any legal documents regarding the gold.
