RMG worker slaughtered to death in Chittagong

A readymade garment worker has been slaughtered to death by her husband in Chittagong city’s Chandgaon area over family feud on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was Safia Begum, 28, wife of Md Hanif, 32 hailing from 12 No Mohila Colony union of Noakhali district, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Zahirul Islam of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost.

Police arrested Hanif, a rickshaw puller by profession, in this connection, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Golam Kibria of Chandgaon police station adding that he said the couple was used to live in one Selim Colony of Osmani Pul area of Chandgaon.

SI Golam Kibria said Safia was a RMG worker at Azim Group where an altercation ensued between husband and wife in the morning over family feud. Following the altercation, Hanif slaughtered his wife by sharp weapon.

In critical state husband rushed Safia to CMCH where the on duty doctors declared her dead, said SI Jahir.

During primary interrogation Hanif misinformed police about the incident. However, police held him suspecting his speech.

SI Jahir added husband admitted the killing during primary interrogation at Chandgaon police station.

A case was filed in this connection with Chandgaon police station, said SI Golam Kibria adding the body was sent to CMCH morgue for autopsy.
