A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver has been killed as pickets threw brick at his vehicle in Maijdee Court area under sadar upazila of Noakhali.
The deceased is Md Jamir Uddin, 32, son of Md Abul Kalam of Char Jabber village under Subarnachar upazila of the district.
Md Jasim Uddin, elder brother of the victim who was in the CNG at the time of the incident said his brother received injuries in head when pickets hurled stones at the auto-rickshaw around 9pm on Monday.
Locals rushed him to a private clinic where on duty doctor declared him dead.
Md Elias Sharif, superintendent of police in Noakhali, said: "Being informed, police rushed to the clinic and sent the body to Noakhali Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College Hospital for autopsy."
The BNP-led 20-party alliance has been observing non-stop nationwide roads and waterways blockade, protesting the confinement of Khaleda since January 5.
