Meghna collision: Vessels lose route permit

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended the route permits of both vessels involved in a collision on Meghna river, which left three dead.

Mobarak Hossain, BIWTA port director in Chandpur, confirmed the water transport authority's decision.

Besides the dead, 15 people were injured as the Barisal-bound MV Parabat-9 rammed into the Dhaka-bound MV Sundarban-8 near Chandpur around 1:30am Tuesday.

The deceased and injured are fom Ramchandrapur village in Barisal. They were returning to Dhaka after attending a family programme.
