Ex-commissioner's pistol found at SCBA toilet

A pistol with five rounds of bullets has been found at the toilet of Supreme Court Bar Association.

The pistol, belongs to former commissioner of Dhaka's 35 no. ward Sekander Ali, lost on January 3 from an adjacent toilet of the building.

The former commissioner filed a complain with Shahbagh police station regarding the incident. Police had searched the toilets of Bar Association building but did not find the pistol then.

Bar Association Superintendent Dinesh Chandra Das told the Dhaka Tribune a person informed him that he noticed a pistol in the toilet around 6:30pm on Sunday.

Later, he informed police about the matter. Being informed, police recovered the firearm.

Earlier in the day, three bombs hidden in books were found on the High Court premises.

Rahmat Ullah Chowdhury, assistant commissioner of DMP's bomb disposal unit, said all the three objects found on the HC premises were bombs.

"The bombs are stronger than crude bombs. We will send those to the explosives department to examine how much powerful the bombs are," he added.
