National cricket team pacer Rubel Hossain's parents and Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Akram Khan have met him at Dhaka Central Jail on Saturday, two days after cricketer sent to jail.
Rubel's parents along with the former Bangladesh cricket team captain, Akram Khan, went to the jail at 12:30pm, said Jailer Nesar Ali of Dhaka Central Jail.
However, detailed information in this regard could not be known immediately.
Rubel Hossain was sent to jail on Tuesday in a rape case filed by actress and model Naznin Akter Happy.
Soon after he was sent to jail, discussions regarding his replacement in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup squad started. The pacer might be replaced if he fails to join the team in time.
ICC Cricket World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29. Bangladesh cricket team is set to fly for Brisbane on January 24.
Actress Happy, on December 13, filed the case with Mirpur police under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
According to Section 9(1) of The Prevention of Oppression Against Women and Children Act 2000, whoever has sexual intercourse without lawful marriage with a woman by fraud, shall be said to commit rape.
It states anyone commits the offence shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for life and with fine.
On December 31, a Dhaka court gave the permission to conduct the DNA test of Rubel Hossain in the case.
Previously, police collected some samples from Rubel’s residence and sent those to the laboratory of Criminal Investigation Department for the tests.
The 24-year old Rubel made his debut in international cricket in 2009 and has so far appeared in 22 Tests, 53 ODIs and 11 Twenty20 internationals.
