The local authorities have imposed section 144 in Rangamati after a clashe between tribal people and ruling party supporters that left 10 people injured.
Prohibitory orders under Sec 144 have been clamped on the town after the clashes.
Section 144 was imposed on Saturday, after separate clashes took place in the town. The ban will stay in effect until further notice.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Sohel Imtiaz said: “The clash erupted when at 10am in the Court Building area. The injured were admitted to Rangamati Sadar Hospital.”
Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP) called a day-long blockade in the district protesting government's decision of opening medical colleges under the authority of Bangladesh Army.
The government opened six medical colleges in Tangail, Jamalpur, Patuakhali, Sirajganj, Manikganj and Rangamati and while five others in different places.
The OC said the PCP supporters took to the streets in support of the blockade when the Awami League supporters tried to stop them that triggered the clash.
