A motorcyclist has been killed and five others have been injured in a road accident in the district's Mirsarai upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased is Md Ismail Hossain, 42, resident of the upazila.
Quoting witnesses, Sub-Inspector (SI) Safiqul Islam of Mirsarai police station told the Dhaka Tribune that a Dhaka-bound truck ran a motorbike over around 10:30am, leaving the biker dead on the spot.
“After ramming into the motorbike, the truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw later collided with a human hauler while the auto-rickshaw driver was trying to avert an accident, leaving five people injured.”
Locals rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, he added.
The police seized the truck. However, the driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
