A Dhaka court has sent Ekushey Television (ETV) Chairman Abdus Salam to jail in a case filed with the Cantonment police station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Meher Nigar also fixed January 8 for hearing the bail and remand petitions of the ETV chairman.
Earlier in the day, Investigation Officer and also Detective Police Inspector Shah Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman Ilias produced Salam in front of the court with a 7-day remand plea.
But, the court did not passed any order over the issue as the prosecution failed to submit the case document by the afternoon.
Detectives arrested Abdus Salam from his office around 3am on Tuesday in a case filed under the Pornography Act 2012 for broadcasting a false report about a girl in a programme named Ekusher Chokh two months ago.
