Four women pedestrian have been killed as a truck ran them over at Punnomoti Noapara village in Burichong upazila of the district.
The deceased are Jahanara Begum, 65; Ranu Ara Begum, 55; Monoara Begum, 45; and Salma Akter, 32.
Jahirul islam, officer-in-charge of Burichong police station, said the truck ran over a group of woman when they were returning home from a Mahfil around 1am on Tuesday, leaving one dead on the spot and five others critically injured.
The injured were rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital where three others succumbed to their injuries on Tuesday morning.
The bodies were handed over to their families, said the OC.
