A woman has been shot dead by unknown miscreants in Satkaniya upazila of Chittagong on Saturday night.
The deceased, Gulchad Begum, 32, wife of late Nurul Islam of Purba Gatiyadanga area of Satkania, said In-charge Sub-Inspector (SI) Delwar Hossain of Demsha Investigation Center.
Quoting the locals, the SI said a group of unknown miscreants shot at the woman’s neck on the street near the masjid of Tunipara area of Puraba Gatiyadanga at around 6:30pm, leaving the woman dead on the spot.
Soon after the incident, the miscreants left the spot from where police recovered the body, the SI said.
The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy.
Chittagong District Police (South) Additional Superintendent of Police Mustafizur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune that the incident took place over previous enmity between two local groups.
