The Gonojagoron Moncho yesterday observed a sit-in programme at capital’s Shahabag intersection also known as ‘Projonmo Chattar’, with a call to execute the verdict announced against war criminal Kamaruzzaman as soon as possible.
Addressing the programme, the activists expressed dissatisfaction over delay in executing verdicts of war criminals.
They also urged the government to execute verdicts given by the War Crimes Tribunal against all war criminals, including Kamaruzzaman, as early as possible.
While talking to journalists Moncho spokesmen D Imran H Sarkar said: “Delivering verdict does not mean that the war trial process in going well, the government must have to execute verdicts of all war criminals without any delay.”
He also urged the government not to do politics with the issue.
He said: “The government could have executed verdict of at least 50 war criminals in five years, but it has done only one just before the 10th general election.
“There is a strong indication of conspiracy regarding the execution, though all the relevant activities of Kamaruzzaman execution has been completed, it is delayed with unknown reason”, Imran siad.
Imran claimed that many foreign embassies, Europeo Union (EU), USA and others influential countries are putting pressure on the government so that it refrain itself from executing verdict of Jamaat leader Kamaruzzaman.
Imran threatened that if the government did not take effective steps within short time, they would go on tougher programme.
“Now we announced programme only a day in a week, but it would be extended soon if we do not get positive indication from the government”.
“We will be forced to start stern movement across the country”, he added.
