Workers of a garment factory in Savar yesterday observed work abstention and staged demonstration in front of the factory protesting sacking of their fellows.
Police said workers of Alliance Knit Garments Ltd in Jirabo area staged the demonstration.
The workers found a notice in the factory's main gate, which said retrenchment of 20 workers following a scuffle between some workers and the general manager of the factory.
On Wednesday, the factory's General Manager Jahangir Alam verbally abused some workers for no reason.
At one stage, some workers attacked Jahangir. Later, authorities of the factory rescued him from the workers' rage.
Mostafizur Rahman, director for industrial police in Ashulia, said additional force have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
