Update : 31 Dec 2014, 08:28 AM

A Dhaka court has given the permission to conduct the DNA test of Bangladesh cricketer Rubel Hossain in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday afternoon after the investigation officer of the case sought court's permission to carry out the DNA test of the cricketer.

Earlier in the day, Mirpur police station Sub-Inspector, and also Investigation Officer of the case Masud Parvez filed a petition with the court, seeking permission of the test.

The court also fixed January 11 for the submission of the probe report.

Naznin Akter Happy, an actress and model, filed the case against Rubel on December 14 at the Mirpur Model Police Station.

According to the FIR, Rubel told Happy that they would marry and had an affair that included physical relations for the last nine months. The couple was together as recently as December 1.

Happy, the heroine of “Kichhu Asha Kichhu Bhalobasa,” said they first met through friends and then stayed in touch via Facebook and mobile telephone.

“We had an affair and he used me,” she said. “If he marries me, then I will withdraw the case.”
