At least four people have been killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a leguna and CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the Jamir Char area under Kapasia upazila in the district on Thursday.
Of the deceased, three were identified as Parveen Akhter, 35, Faruk, 25, Jasim Uddin, 30.
Kapasia police station Sub-Inspector Nazmul Huda said: “A leguna and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on in the area around 10:30pm, leaving seven people critically injured."
Later, auto-rickshaw driver Faruk and an unidentified man died at Kapasia Sadar Hospital while Parveen and Jasim succumbed to their injuries at Narsigndi Hospital,” he added.
Injured Khokon Mia, 45, his wife Farida, 35, and their daughter Mery, 2, were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment, said police source.
