Gazipur district administration has withdrawn the ban on holding any kind of meeting, procession and gathering.
Superintendent of Police in Gazipur Harun-ur-Rashid made the announcement in a press conference on Saturday evening.
He said the section 144 at Bhawal Badr-e-Alam College ground has been withdrawn from 6pm on Saturday.
The local administration in Gazipur imposed the ban on all gatherings from 2pm on Friday to ease tension over the 20-party alliance’s scheduled rally there.
The BNP-led alliance recently announced to hold a public rally at Gazipur where Khaleda Zia was expected to speak as the chief guest.
However, Convenor of Gazipur Chhatra League Delwar Hossain vowed to thwart the rally if Tarique Rahman did not apologise for his remarks on Bangabandhu.
The ruling party's associate organisations Jubo League, Chhatra League and Sramik League brought out a procession as part of their ongoing demonstration against the BNP rally.
