Abducted businessman rescued in Chittagong

Police in a drive have rescued a businessman from Feni district who was allegedly abducted by a group miscreants on December 23 from Chittagong city’s Bakalia area.

Md Mizanur Rahman, 28, is the owner of a telecom shop at a market of Notun Bridge area.

Police arrested an alleged abductor Md Saiful Islam, 31, during the drive, said Officer-in-charge Mohammed Mohsin of Bakalia police station.

OC Mohsin said Mizan was a Dubai expatriate and came to the home on September 2010 and started the business.

When Mizan was in aboard, he allegedly embezzled around Tk6 lakh from three persons including Saiful and one Yusuf luring them to sent Dubai through forged visa and documents while the person had come back from Dubai without informing the fortune seekers, said the OC.

Soon after his landing to the country, Mizan changed his address while the fortune seekers failed to trace out him after frantic search, said the OC adding that Saiful later unearthed Mizan’s address and contact number in the city. Since then Saiful was making plans to recover the embezzled money.

The OC said Saiful and other victims staged an affair drama with Mizan using the female cousin and Mizan trapped on it. He said getting a phone call of the woman, Mizan went to Dhaka on December 23 to meet her where the fortune seekers took him into their captivity.

Later, they demanded Tk6 lakh ransom from Mizan’s family over phone.

 Mizan’s cousin Belal filed a complaint with Bakalia police station on December 24, said OC Mohsin.

He said police later stated their investigation and rescued him from a house beside one Maya Clinic of Feni sadar area and held Saiful.

During the primary investigation both of them admitted their guilty. A case was filed in this connection.
