A female police constable has been killed when her scarf got stuck with the engine of a battery-run auto-rickshaw in the district's Tungipara on Friday.
The deceased, Monisha Perveen, 23, was a member of Narsingdi District Police Line.
Tungipara police station Officer-in-Charge Md Monirul Islam said: “Monisha along with two other female constables went to visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Complex in Tungipara. The accident occurred around 10am while she was returning to the rest house at Government Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Girls' High School.”
“Monisha was staying at the rest house in order to perform her duty during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's upcoming visit to the district.”
Her body has been kept at the morgue of Goplaganj General Hospital.
