Rabindra Sangeet soiree at IGCC today

A soiree of Rabindra Sangeet by promising Bangladeshi singers Avik Deb and Avaya Dutta will be held today at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in the capital’s Gulshan area at 6:30pm.

Avik Deb, a promising Rabindra Sangeet artiste, has been training at Shurer Dhara, a prestigious cultural institute in the country, under the tutelage of Rabindra Sangeet legend Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya. 

The proud recipient of the Prothom Maan, a competition organised by Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad in 2009, Avik has won many accolades in his short career.

He won the first prize for his Rabindra Sangeet renditions at the Tagore Festival at Darlington Hall in Devon, the UK. Avik has also performed Rabindra Sangeet in London and Ireland.

Avaya Dutta is a versatile exponent of Rabindra Sangeet in the country. She has trained in Rabindra Sangeet under the tutelage of eminent singers such as Wahidul Haque, Sanjida Khatun, Rashbihari Chakroborty, Mita Haque.

Avaya completed her six years’ course on Rabindra Sangeet at Chhayanaut in Dhaka and is currently working as an assistant teacher at the prestigious cultural institution. She is enlisted as a regular artiste on BTV.
