Update : 23 Dec 2014, 07:03 PM

Legendary Bangali screen goddess Suchitra Sen will be remembered in “Bangali Biswamoy” today at 8:05pm on GTV. The show will focus on Suchitra’s origins, early life in Bangladesh, and later life, work and success. Produced by Arindam Mukherjee Binku, Bollywood singers will talk about the veteran actress over the phone.

Over a vast span from the fifties to the seventies, Suchitra teamed up with film idol Uttam Kumar to create one of the most famous pairs in Indian cinema.

For the past three decades since she quit the world of film, Suchitra led the life of a recluse, and was never seen in public.

Suchitra made a mark for herself in the Bangali film industry and also established herself in Bollywood. She worked in memorable Hindi films like “Devdas,” “Aandhi” and “Mamta.” Suchitra was seen as a strong, independent woman in her personal life, too. She is the mother of actress Moon Moon Sen and the grandmother of Riya Sen and Raima Sen.

Suchitra died at the age of 82 on January 17, 2014 in Kolkata, India.
