“We want a peaceful situation to expedite the pace of development. Action should be taken against each and every criminal without seeing their face.”
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday asked the top officials of the districts to go hard against all criminals irrespective of their political or social identity, saying law and order should be kept normal by any means to go ahead with development.
“The people of the country expected BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to offer an apology for her son’s derogatory comments on Bangabandhu and different settled issues.”
Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud yesterday said BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman should be brought back to face trial for his derogatory remarks on historically settled issues of the country.
“If Awami League leaders think that Tarique had made mistakes, they should prove that by presenting concrete academic evidence. Instead, they are verbally attacking our chairperson and her son in an indiscriminate way.”
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has sided with the party’s Senior Vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, saying that Awami League leaders were aggrieved at what Tarique had said in London on the basis of academic reference.
