Theatre troupe Punyabhumi will be staging “Mohua” today at 7pm at the Studio Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Written by Dwij Kanai and directed by Julfikar Hussain Sohag, the play is based on Moimonshingho Gitika, a collection of folk ballads from Mymensingh.
But the troupe has redesigned “Mohua” for their fifth production.
Julfikar Hussain Sohag, Durjoy Anowar, Sohag Ashrafi, Hridoy Babu, Projapati Sarkar and Fatema Begum will play the major roles.
The chief of the theatre troupe Julfikar said: “It is a challenge to perform on a big platform. There are many hindrances which the troupe has had to overcome to stage ‘Mohua.’”
“There are many theatre troupes who have put on ‘Mohua’ but I would say, Punyabhumi shows the play in a new way,” he added.
