A member of a robber gang has been killed in a "gunfight" with police at Mandartala sadar upazila of Magura district early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Uzzal Hossain, 37, son of Awal Hossain, a resident of Chanpur village of the same upazila.
Assistant Superintendent of Police in Magura Sudarshan Kumar Roy said a gang of robbers opened fire at a patrol team of police in the area around 1am.
"In retaliation, police fired back triggering a "gunfight" that left robber Uzzal dead and three members of police injured on the spot," he added.
The injured police personnel were admitted to sadar hospital. A case was filed in this connection, said the police official.
