Alia Bhatt pairs up with Shahid Kapoor for a drugs drama, but drops out of Farhan Akhtar’s musical.
Mirror had earlier reported that Alia Bhatt would star in the “Rock On!!” sequel. The makers were eager to have her on board as they wanted an actress who could croon her own songs. The film’s composers, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy were looking forward to recording with the actress with the ‘terrific voice’. But Alia has had to let go off this coveted project because she starts shooting with Abhishek Chaubey in February.
The Ishqiya director is making a film on the rampant drug use in North India, titled “Udta Punjab,” with Alia as his leading lady. She has been cast opposite Shahid Kapoor who she has been romancing in Vikas Bahl’s destination wedding film, “Shandaar.”
Says a source, “Alia has told the makers of “Rock On 2” that she won’t be able to accommodate their film and they have started the hunt for a new girl. Auditions are currently underway in as many as three countries.”
