Man shoots 31 in Natore

At least 31 people have received bullet injuries after a man opened fire on his rivals during a clash at Berabari village of Dahia union under Singra upazila of Natore on Friday morning.

Dahia Union Chairman Abul Kalam said: “There was a long-standing land dispute between Samad-Amjad and Reza-Saiful groups. On Friday morning, the members of the two groups locked into a scuffle over previous enmity."

"At one stage, Saiful brought his firearms and randomly opened fire on his rivals, leaving at least 31 people injured.”

The injured have been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. Of them, three people have been shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated, said Natore Police Super Basudeb Banik.

The SP said: “The police rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and picked Saiful up along with his firearms. The investiagtion is underway and the next course of action will be taken after questioning the locals.”

UNO Salma Khatun and Singra police station Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam have visited the spot in the afternoon.

The situation is under control now and additional police have been deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation, said the police.
