Theatre troupe Dristipat Nattyadal is invited to stage their acclaimed play “Raja Himadri” at the International Theatre and Drama Festival in Rourkela, a city located in the north-western border of the Indian state of Odisha. The play will be staged on December 20 as the opening act of the festival arranged by Spandan, a prominent cultural organisation in the state.
The play, which is the 21st production of Drishtipat, has been adapted from Greek classic Oedipus by Sophocles and is directed by Khandaker Tazmi Noor. The play offers an interesting look at the great Greek tragedy.

King Himadri and his wife Himrani live happily together until a stranger arrives one day and discloses Himadri’s dark secret. The secret opens a bleak chapter in the royal couple’s life culminating in their separation.
The cast of the soul-searching play includes Marjana Barkatun Borsha, Abdul Halim Aziz, Jahangir Kabir Bokul, Mrinmoy Chakraborty, Abul Hossain Ador, Shreya Khandakar and Rafiqul Islam.
