Police have detained seven people for their suspected involvement in the incident of looting a jewellery shop after hurling crude bombs in GPO area of the Chittagong port city.
The detainees could not be identified immediately.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali Circle) Shah Mohammad Rouf said: “Six arms and looted ornaments were recovered from their possession on Wednesday.”
However, he did not disclose further details regarding the detention.
He said details regarding the matter will be disclosed in a press conference around 3pm.
Thirteen people have been injured when a gang of robbers hurled several crude bombs targeting two jewellery shops – Gini Jewellers and Aparupa Jewellers – located near the Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardi Sarak in Chittagong on December 13.
