The High Court has issued an order to stop bullfights, cockfights and goat fights in Chatak of Sunamganj within eight weeks.
The HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order on Sunday afternoon.
The court came up with the order following a writ petition filed by lawyer Nadira Chowdhury on behalf of Abhoyaronno Bangladesh, an animal welfare society.
The court also issued a rule upon the government asking why such sports should not be banned across the country.
