A Chhatra League activist has been shot dead in a clash between two factions of BCL unit of Chittagong University.
Deceased Taposh Paul, was an activist of CFC group of Chhatra League and first year student of Sangskrit department of the university.
Four others were also injured during the clash on Sunday morning.
Naik Jahangir Alam of CMCH police outpost said the on duty doctor declared Taposh dead upon arrival.
Officer-in-Charge Slahuddin of Hathazari police station told the Dhaka Tribune that the activists of shuttle train based BCL factions Varsity Express and CFC locked in a clash following altercation around 11am.
"The BCL activists also exchanged fire during the clash that left at least five injured including one with bullet wound," said the OC.
Later, police conducted a drive at Shahjalal Hall of the university and detained 27 students of the hall, said the hall students.
