A Dhaka court has summoned Supreme Court lawyer Dr Tuhin Malik over a defamation case.
The court ordered Dr Malik to appear before it on January 13.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasibul Haque passed the order on Wednesday afternoon, after hearing the third complaint filed by Chhatra League leader Golam Rabbani.
Rabbani, deputy international affairs secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, filed three complaints against Dr Tuhin Malik on Tuesday.
After recording statement in two complaints on Tuesday, the court directed Shahbagh police station OC to register the matter as FIR after investigation and taking permission of government.
According to the cases statements, on November 30, Tuhin Malik made a remark about the constitution and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at a seminar held at Lily Garden Auditorium in London.
Dr Tuhin Malik said: “All stories of Mujib and his family have been included in the constitution and if anyone tries to take those out, then he will be hanged.”
