Two separate cases were filed yesterday against Supreme Court lawyer Tuhin Malik on charges of sedition and hurting religious sentiment by making statements on the constitution and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Golam Rabbani, deputy international affairs secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, filed the cases with Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
After recording statements of the plaintiff, Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque directed the officer-in-charge of Shahbagh police station to investigate the matter and take permission of the government, and then register the matter as an FIR.
According to the cases, Tuhin at a seminar in London on November 30 said: “All the stories of Mujib and his family have been included in the constitution, and if anyone tries to exclude those, he or she will be hanged.
“Atheism and impiety have been added to the constitution. None will be able to amend whatever is added to the constitution until the Doomsday.”
