Authorities of a ready-made garment factory in Ashulia have declared the factory closed for an indefinite period following a clash between two groups of workers.
Pradac Jeans Limited authorities hung a notice on the factory gate in the old Dhaka Export Processing Zone on Tuesday morning.
The workers of the factory staged a demonstration in front of the main gate of the factory since morning protesting the decision.
Police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Workers said ten workers were injured when two group of workers locked into a clash while staging a protest for getting less wage on Monday.
Following the clash, the factory authorities declared a holiday for the day.
Later, the workers found the notice when they went to work in the factory on Tuesday morning.
Factory's Administrative Officer Majhar Hossain said: “The factory has been declared closed for an indefinite period for the workers' indiscipline in the factory.”
Ashulia Industrial Police Director Mostafizur Rahman said: “Additional police have been deployed in front of the factory to avoid any untoward situation.”
