A man has been killed in a road accident on Rangpur-Bogra highway at Kalitola area under Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha.
The deceased is Dabir Uddin, 50, son of Jharu Mia, of Mahisha village under Sharsha upazila in Jessore.
Officer-in-Charge of Gobindaganj highway police station Masud Parvez said: “A Jessore-bound potato-laden truck fell into Korotoya River, breaking the railing of a bridge in the area.”
The driver and the helper of the truck managed to flee from the scene but the caretaker of the goods died on the spot, he added.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Gaibandha Adhunik Hospital, Masud said.
A rescue operation is going on to recover the truck, the official added.
