The cabinet has approved the draft of 'Hajj Package 2015' keeping a provision of mandatory online registration and having Machine Readable Passports (MRPs).
Online registration for hajj will remain open from January 21 to February 5. Some 1,01,758 Bangladeshi pilgrims will be allowed to perform hajj in 2015.
The regular cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the approval on Monday afternoon. Cabinet Secretary M Musharrof Hossain Bhuiyan briefed reporters ater the meeting at the secretariat.
The first package will cost Tk354,745 while the second will cost Tk295,206.
The pilgrims will have to pay extra Tk10,500 for Kurbani. A pilgrim can take a maximum of $1000 with him/her.
The hajis will also have to pay Tk151,000 during online registration.
The cabinet secretary said the Saudi government has introduced a new system of electronic hajj management in 2015 under which the interested hajj pilgrims would have to make online registration in advance while no one would be allowed without the MRPs.
